Brody Sweeney on Scaling SME businesses - Crowe Horwath Ireland

Pinnacle Programme Session 3: Scaling SME businesses – How to prepare, manage and optimise growth in your business

Brody Sweeney, founder of Camile Thai Kitchen Group, a growing chain of online delivery restaurants in Ireland and the UK, was guest speaker at the third session of Crowe Horwath’s Pinnacle Programme. With over 30 years’ experience as an entrepreneur and business owner, he shared his invaluable insights into his approach to scaling SME businesses and the lessons he has learnt along the way.

Crowe Horwath partner Gerry O’Reilly also outlined the four key areas he helps SMEs focus on which are vital ingredients to scaling their business.

  1. To be able to identify and defend intellectual property in order to build and protect your brand
  2. Skills leverage – to take a formula and make it as teachable and repeatable as possible. Creating clearly defined objectives and processes with demarcated roles within the organisation to ensure consistence in delivery and customer experience
  3. Financial Leverage – Maximise the return on capital through efficient use of yours and third party capital
  4. Extract yourself from the day-to-day running of the business to ensure you are able to work on the business and not just in the business
