Financial Controller

To be considered for an interview your skills and experience should include:

  • ACA, ACCA or CPA qualified
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience;
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Well- presented with professional manner;
  • Capable of dealing directly with partners and clients;
  • Highly numerate with strong attention to detail;
  • High degree of analytical and problem solving ability;
  • Proactive and driven to achieve solutions on matters as required;

  • Proven ability to adhere to deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Experience of Star practice management desirable but not essential;
  • Experience of MS Dynamics desirable but not essential
  • Experience in Financial Statement preparation;
  • Company secretarial, corporate governance and group structures experience would be helpful.

On successful hire your role as Financial Controller will be reporting directly to the Finance Partner of our accountancy practice. Your responsibilities will include the following main areas:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and cash flow;
  • Maintaining financial records of the firm;
  • Managing firm working capital including debt collection;
  • Preparation of financial statements for a range of companies including liasing with auditors and preparing tax calculations;
  • Play a key role in the management of the firm
  • Identifying and reporting issues in firm performance
  • Seeking out and winning management support for solutions to management problems
  • Working with Partners in the preparation of annual firm budget
  • Working with Partners in highlighting comparisons Actuals against Budgets
  • Agreeing or identifying corrective action with Partners
  • Ensuring client monies and commissions are reconciled and maintained in compliance with Client monies regulations and Investment business regulations;
  • Ensuring firm is compliant with CARB requirements and liasing with the firm’s compliance partner;
  • Preparation and filing of firm and related company tax returns including PAYE/PRSI and VAT;
  • Cost management, procurement and accounts payable;
  • Liasing with firm insurer and preparing for renewals;
  • Firm payrolls, staff timesheet postings and staff expense claims;
  • Responsibility for a range of returns to international networks, regulatory bodies and government;
  • Office management including liasing with landlord;
  • Attending meetings, dealing with queries and preparing reports for the firm’s Management Committee and Partners;
  • Supervising the work of accounts assistant, credit controller and junior staff who report directly to you.
