Changing Trends in Hotel Sector

L to R: Aiden Murphy (Crowe Horwath), John Hughes (CBRE), Gerardo Larios Rizo (Bank of Ireland), Sarah Duignan (STR), Weldon Mather (WM Consultancy) and Shaun Quinn (Fáilte Ireland).

BOI Hotel Sector Event raises concern on further expected delays to new supply pipeline for Dublin which in a market operating at 83% occupancy and where demand is growing annually results in both displacement of business to other countries and escalating room prices in Dublin.

Aiden Murphy presented at the Bank of Ireland hotel sector event ‘Changing Trends in the Hotel Sector’. Aiden examined the changes in hotel supply in Ireland up to 2016 with an outlook for future needs. Aiden discussed the performance of the sector from both a regional and Dublin perspective, over the ten year period 2005 to 2015. The presentation shows the peaks and troughs over this period, the changes in the sales and EBITDA of the industry and the potential growth for year end 2016. Aiden gave a review of the constraints on the sector with a look at investment feasibility for Dublin.
