Mairea Doyle Balfe and Grayson Buckley of Crowe Horwath were pleased to be invited as speakers at Bank of Ireland’s “Dublin’s Licensed Trade” event which was held in the House of Lords at the Bank of Ireland College Green.

Mairea Doyle Balfe, a Director in Crowe Horwath’s Hotel, Tourism and Leisure department, spoke on the outlook for Dublin’s licensed sector in terms of key drivers for the sector and future investment strategies. Mairea also provided a case study on the potential for a Dublin pub to extend their offering by adding bedrooms and the positive impact this would bring to their sales and profitability.

Grayson Buckley, a Tax Partner with Crowe Horwath, presented on efficient tax structures for businesses, the benefits of succession planning and key tax reliefs available for publicans. He also discussed the impact of changes in tax rates such as the Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Capital Acquisition Tax (CAT) and Stamp Duty on commercial properties.
